“Using language as my primary material, and the process of printmaking (matrix, pressure, reversal) as my subject, I explore the possibilities of paper and ink, but also beeswax, casting or photograms, to create immersive works and installations connecting the viewer to his first encounters with human or non-human languages.

My background as a linguist and writer informs my practice, and I play with the tensions between the matrixial space of the mother-tongue and the use of acquired languages, in a multilingual identity. I am interested in the way language reflects and betrays, strokes and bruises, shows and conceals.

I am currently exploring the power of words in visual art, the energy of myths and poetry, and I am finding inspiration in the works of Cy Twombly, Glen Ligon or Annette Messager, but also the writings of Roland Barthes and Gaston Bachelard.”
