FRAGMENTS OF NATURE - cyanotypes
For my work “FRAGMENTS OF NATURE”, created in the landscape and exhibited at the end of a 6 months’ residency in the Wetlands Centre in Barnes in 2021, I have been interested in the benefits, for our health and well-being, of being immersed in nature. Using the cyanotype technique to illustrate our connection to nature, I collaborated with scientists at the Centre to research the bond that we have with blue spaces, and to show how protecting them is crucial for our urban environment sustainability, as well as for the well-being of all its residents, animals and humans alike.
Cyanotype allows me the freedom to work very instinctively and to engage the whole body in a process that is both spontaneous and rooted in the elements. The work was exposed in the sunshine and washed in streams or rain water. All prints are original, one-off works on beautiful art papers.
